Saturday: Travelling to Salisbury
Itinerary for the journey up to Salisbury, with several stops arranged.
12 noon: Dance at Sherborne near Abbey precinct
2pm: Depart Sherborne and drive to Shaftesbury (30 min drive).
- 2:45: Dance in Shaftesbury - outside Gold Hill Museum, High Street;
- 3:15: Optional tea & cake at Shaftsbury Abbey Museum and Garden, Park Lane (closes at 4pm).
- Local map: Shaftesbury
4:30pm: Depart Shaftesbury, head for Salisbury
- Shaftesbury is half an hour from Salisbury, giving time for people to check into accommodation.
6:00pm: Meet at Barford Inn
- The Barford Inn, Barford St Martin, Salisbury SP3 4AB
- Local map: Barford Inn
- Meal for those that have booked;
- Opportunity for song & music session, informal dancing;
- Meet up with our hosts Sarum Morris;
- Not in kit (DM logo shirts etc would be nice).
Sunday Tour Details
The timings for the Sunday are approximately:
9:45: Meet at Stonehenge
- Parking is free (for car registration numbers provided).
10.00-10.40: Dance outside the visitor centre; then catch bus to the stones
11.00-11.30: Dance near Stonehenge stones
11.45-12.30: Travel to Avebury
- We travel in our own cars;
- Parking is free for National Trust and English Heritage members. Pay & Display if not.
12.30-1.30: Lunch at the Red Lion in Avebury village
2.00- 4.00: Dance in Avebury
- Outside the tea room in the National Trust courtyard.
4.30: Depart
